What almost everyone wants to know before uploading their first PDF.

Can I edit PDF text without losing the original font?

Yes. FontiaPDF reads the fonts embedded in the document and reuses them on export, so the text you edit keeps its original typeface, size and colour. When a font cannot be reused, the closest match is substituted and the font picker tells you so.

Are my files uploaded to a server, and how long are they kept?

Visual editing happens in your browser, but the final PDF is generated on our server. The file is stored temporarily and deleted automatically after 60 minutes, whether you download it or not. It is never used to train models or shared with third parties.

What is free and what needs Premium?

Free: edit and add text, cover content with whiteout, search and replace, fill in forms, open password-protected PDFs, rotate and delete pages, and remove images from the document, with a limited number of exports per day. Premium: insert images and signatures, highlight and draw shapes, reorder, duplicate or extract pages, password-protect the PDF, move or resize images, and export with no daily limit.

Does it work with scanned PDFs?

No. FontiaPDF edits the real text in the document, and a scanned PDF is a picture of text: there is no OCR, so you cannot click the words to edit them. If the PDF came out of Word, Google Docs, Excel or any similar program, it will work fine.

Can I search and replace text across the whole document?

Yes, and it is part of the free plan. The search panel scans every page of the PDF, lists each match with its page number and replaces them one by one or all at once, keeping each line's formatting.

What is the maximum file size?

Up to 50 MB per PDF. Very long or image-heavy documents take longer to open, because every page is rendered in your own browser.

Does it work on mobile?

Yes, it runs in modern mobile browsers and the interface adapts to the screen. For dense documents, editing on a desktop or tablet is still noticeably more comfortable.

Do I need to sign up or install anything?

No. FontiaPDF runs in the browser: no account, no extensions, nothing to install. You only activate a key if you buy a Premium plan.

At FontiaPDF we take the privacy of your documents seriously. This policy explains, in plain language, what data we process and why.

The PDFs you upload

When you edit a PDF, the file is sent to our server solely to apply the text changes you make (removing/inserting text). The PDF is stored temporarily and automatically deleted after 60 minutes, whether or not you download it.

We never store your PDFs permanently, we don't use them to train AI models, and we don't share them with third parties.

Anonymous identification (Free plan)

The Free plan doesn't require creating an account. To apply the daily free-export quota, your browser generates a random anonymous identifier (stored in localStorage) — it isn't linked to your name, email, or any other personal data.

If you clear your browser data or use another device, a new identifier is generated and your quota resets.

Premium licenses and payments

Payments for Premium plans (Week Pass, Monthly, Annual) are handled entirely by Freemius, our Merchant of Record. Freemius processes the charge, issues invoices, and stores billing data — FontiaPDF never sees or stores your card number or other payment details.

When you activate a license, we only store the license key, plan, and expiration date in your browser, to recognize your Premium session.

Cookies and local storage

We don't use tracking cookies or third-party analytics. We exclusively use localStorage (your browser's own storage) to save your anonymous identifier, your language preference, and your Premium license session, if any.

Voluntary bug reporting

If you use the "Report a problem" button, you can choose to attach diagnostic information (app version, browser, and the last logged errors). This is always optional and never includes your PDF's content.

How we protect your documents

PDFs are processed in temporary server storage and automatically deleted after 60 minutes. The server keeps no backup copies of processed files.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected in the "last updated" date on this page.

What FontiaPDF is

FontiaPDF is a text editor for PDF files that runs in your browser. Visual editing happens on your own device; the final processing of the file happens on our server, and the resulting PDF is automatically deleted after 60 minutes.

Permitted use

You must not use FontiaPDF to process illegal content, to infringe on third-party rights, or to attempt to overload, attack, or compromise the service. We reserve the right to limit or suspend access in cases of abusive use.

Free plan and Premium plans

The Free plan allows a limited number of exports per day, with no account required. Premium plans (Week Pass, Monthly, Annual) remove that daily limit; their purchase and billing are processed through Freemius.

The Week Pass grants Premium access for 7 days from activation, with no auto-renewal. Monthly and Annual plans renew according to the contracted cycle unless cancelled.

Your content, your ownership

You retain all rights to the PDFs you upload. We claim no ownership over your content; our role is limited to temporarily applying the changes you request.

Service availability

FontiaPDF is provided "as is", with no guarantee of uninterrupted availability. We may perform maintenance, updates, or feature changes at any time.

Limitation of liability

You use the service at your own risk. To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect losses arising from use of the service; we recommend always keeping a copy of your original PDF before editing it.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. Continued use of the service after a change constitutes acceptance of it.

Refund Policy

14-day guarantee

All Premium plans (Week Pass, Monthly, and Annual) come with a 14-calendar-day refund guarantee from the purchase date, managed by Freemius, our payment processor.

If you're not satisfied within that period, you can request a full refund of your purchase, with no need to justify the reason.

How to request a refund

You can request your refund directly from the purchase confirmation email sent by Freemius, or by writing to us at: [email protected]

Freemius processes the refund to your original payment method; crediting time depends on your bank or payment provider (usually 5 to 10 business days).

Renewals and cancellations

You can cancel the auto-renewal of your Monthly or Annual plan at any time via the subscription management link Freemius includes in your billing emails; you'll keep Premium access until the end of the period already paid for.

Note on the Week Pass

The Week Pass is a one-time payment that grants 7 days of Premium access. The 14-day guarantee applies equally to the amount paid, regardless of whether you've already used the access.
