A Sejda alternative for editing the text in a PDF
If you are looking for a Sejda alternative to edit PDFs in your browser, FontiaPDF shares the basics: you can use it for free without an account, free downloads carry no watermark, and it changes the text already in the document. Three things are different: how the free limit is counted, where your file is processed and how long it is kept.
The differences are listed point by point below. Sejda’s figures come from its public pricing, editor, privacy and desktop pages, checked on October 27, 2026, and they may change.
How to edit your PDF in FontiaPDF in 3 steps
-
Open the editor, no account needed
Click “Open the editor” and upload your PDF, up to 50 MB. There is nothing to sign up for or install.
-
Click the line and type
Every line of text becomes editable with a click. Make as many changes as you need: while you edit, the file stays in your browser.
-
Download the result
When you click “Download PDF”, your changes are applied in the document’s font. Each download with changes counts as one of your 20 free exports for the day.
What they have in common
Both are free to use without an account, neither puts a watermark on free downloads, and both change the text that is already in the PDF instead of only adding boxes on top. Both flag it when the original font is missing characters: Sejda’s editor offers a replacement font or keeping the original, and FontiaPDF reuses the embedded font if it has every character you type and, if not, uses the closest equivalent on that line.
Entry pricing matches too: both sell a 7-day pass for USD 5 as a one-time payment that doesn’t renew on its own, and a monthly plan for USD 7.50.

| Yearly plan | USD 55 | USD 63 per user, web and desktop |

When FontiaPDF fits better
- You download several versions in a row: the free limit is 20 exports a day, not 3 tasks per hour.
- You’d rather keep the file on your device while you work: the PDF stays in your browser until you download, and merging, splitting, page numbers, watermarks, PDF to image and OCR all work without uploading it.
- The web version is all you need: the yearly plan is USD 55, while Sejda’s USD 63 yearly plan also includes its desktop app.
When Sejda fits better
- You want a desktop app that processes documents on your computer: Sejda Desktop offers that, and FontiaPDF only runs in the browser.
- You work with files over 50 MB: Sejda’s paid plans take up to 500 MB per file, while FontiaPDF stays at 50 MB on every plan.
Sources and date
Sejda data checked on October 27, 2026 on sejda.com (pricing, PDF editor, privacy and desktop pages); it can change at any time. Phrases in quotation marks are copied from those pages. If anything here no longer matches what Sejda publishes, its own pages are the ones that count.

What’s preserved and what isn’t
Preserved
- The font, size and color of every line you edit, as long as the font is embedded in the PDF and has all the characters you type.
- The images, tables and pages you don’t touch.
- Text stays text: you can select, copy and search it in the downloaded PDF.
Limits
- A scanned PDF is an image: you first need to recognize its text with the editor’s OCR.
- Each line is edited on its own; if you make a sentence longer, the lines below don’t move.
- It doesn’t convert PDFs to Word or other office formats.

Frequently asked questions
Is FontiaPDF affiliated with Sejda?
No. FontiaPDF is an independent project; Sejda is a trademark of its owner and is named only to identify its product.
Can I keep editing in FontiaPDF a PDF I downloaded from Sejda?
Yes. The downloaded PDF is an ordinary file: upload it to the editor and keep changing its text like any other.
What happens when I reach 20 exports in a day?
You can keep editing and keep using the tools that run in your browser, but downloads with changes wait until the daily allowance resets. If you need them sooner, the Week Pass gives you 7 days of Premium for a one-time payment, with no auto-renewal.
Is the Sejda information up to date?
It is from October 27, 2026 and comes from Sejda’s public pages. Sejda can change it at any time, so check its site before you decide.
